HAMMOND T-112
*Pickup only.
Spinet (tone wheel) organ
Year (1968-1975)
Exterior Condition: Not very clean. There are scratches, stains, chips, large pieces of missing plastic, and discoloration. No major damage that affects playability, just cosmetic. Some sliders and knobs generate static electricity when turned. See photos, I took lots of them.
Playing condition: I would say it plays very well. I tested the sliders and drawbars. They all seem responsive. The pedals worked too, but some are less responsive (I never used them). The drawbars and controls on the base keyboard worked fine.
Other features like vibrato, chorus, reverb, brilliance etc seem to work fine. The "cymbal percussion" sound is working on the lower tiers and pedals.
What's not working well is "Repeat", which is a kind of repeating percussion sound, faintly audible in some keys, but louder in others. I don't know what the problem is, maybe an old capacitor somewhere.
The volume pedal and twin built-in speakers are functional, but the sound quality is not the best compared to newer amps.
The inside of this Hammond looks mostly original, so I would have preferred to replace the old capacitors in time, but since it works, I figured if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'm assuming a refresh might bring it back to life a bit more.
TESTING: Please understand that I have done my best to test it. I think it will play as is. I am not a Hammond technician (are there still any?). I will answer questions to the best of my ability, but don't expect a brand new organ. It is 50 years old.
Reason for selling: I used this organ in my studio because I wanted the tone wheels. It doesn't get any better sound than this, but it's big and heavy for a keyboard. I used it with a Yamaha RA-70 amp, but of course a Leslie is the best, especially if you have a preamp. The electronic vibrato and reverb are great, so it sounds great on its own. I'm sad to let it go, but I've decided to sell the equipment I left Japan with and it's too big to return.
Comes with: power cord, bakelite half-moon Leslie control, extra tonewheel oil, music stand (removed). The Leslie connection box is inside. I have not tested this connector or the switch. I don't have a Leslie. The switch is in good condition though. Spider is free :P
This organ is American power supply standard.
60 Hz / 110 volts. You can use it on 100 volts in Japan, but in the Kanto area it's 50 Hz, so the sound will be off by 3-4 semitones. There are converters to change the frequency or lower the power. I didn't care and just played it as is. I had to transpose it. Osaka is 60hz, so it should be fine.
Delivery: Local pickup in Sakado, Saitama, or courier pickup at buyer's expense can be arranged. Either is fine. We can help you load it. It should be 2 people. It's easy to pull the truck/van up to your building. If you bring a dolly or moving platform, you can just roll it through the door into the truck.
The size is 1150 x 1150 x 650 mm and the weight is 100 KG.
Note: Shipping is free for local pick-up. If the buyer uses courier service, the shipping fee will be borne by the buyer.
